X Factor hopefuls make it through to judges houses

The final hopefuls who have made it to the judges houses stage of The X Factor were revealed tonight.

The 24 wannabes are bidding for a place in the last 12 who will be part of the live finals over the coming weeks of the show.

Last night viewers learned who the six girls that have made it through are along with which mentors will be on hand for the judges as they guide their performers through the next stage of the process.

Nicole Scherzinger with the girls category will be helped by Mary J Blige, Gary Barlow (groups) is joined by Olly Murs, Sharon Osbourne (over 25s) enlists Robbie Williams and Louis Walsh (boys) is joined by Nicole Appleton, Shane Filan and Sinitta.

Here are the remaining contestants and the songs with which they impressed the judges at bootcamp.

The over-25s:

  • Andrea Magee, 28, from Belfast (but living in Maidstone). Music graduate Andrea was head of music at a secondary school but gave it up to concentrate on gigging and helping autistic children in her spare time. Bootcamp song: With or Without You - U2.

  • Shelley Smith, 34, from Farringdon in Devon. The single mum delivers car parts in her white van and also performs functions. She made it to bootcamp in 2008 and 2012. Bootcamp song: Respect - Aretha Franklin.

  • Sam Bailey, 35, from Leicestershire. Prison officer Sam is a mother-of-two and has decided she should pursue her musical dreams after devoting herself to work and family. Bootcamp song: Clown - Emeli Sande.

  • Zoe Devlin, 28, from London. Waitress Zoe, who has a three-year-old daughter, has previously been part of a reggae band and was a backing vocalist with Alabama 3. Bootcamp song: You Are So Beautiful - Joe Cocker.

  • Joseph Whelan, 27, from Wolverhampton. The builder and rock singer - who has performed in tribute bands - has surpassed his performance last year when he missed out on a judges' houses place. Bootcamp song: Iris - Goo Goo Dolls.

  • Lorna Simpson, 26, from South Norwood, London. Currently studying business finance at university, Lorna previously won a "Tasty Talent" contest in Jamaica taking a grand prize of £8,000. Bootcamp song: I Wanna Dance With Somebody - Whitney Houston.

Boys:

  • Luke Friend, 17, Devon. Student Luke dreams of headlining at Glastonbury Festival and his dreadlocked hair has not been washed for nine months. Bootcamp song: Alone - Heart.

  • Giles Potter, 16, from Worcester. Student Giles had been desperate to reach his 16th birthday to allow him to audition and says he will not let negative comments from peers at school to put him off the competition. Bootcamp song: I Won't Give Up - Jason Mraz.

  • Nicholas McDonald, 16, from Motherwell. Student Nicholas gigs at venues close to where he lives, spending the proceeds on new gear which his dad sets up for him when plays lives. Bootcamp song: I won't give up - Jason Mraz.

  • Paul Akister, 24, from Lancaster. Shy Paul has been a gigging club singer since the age of 17 and now wants to move on to bigger things. Bootcamp song: I'd Rather Go blind - Etta James.

  • Ryan Mathie, 18, from Hull. Ryan is a mechanic, repairing vehicles for a local authority, and bought his first guitar at the age of 14. Now he wants to turn to a new form of transport - a tour bus. Bootcamp song: Wake Me Up - Avicii.

  • Sam Callahan, 19, from Essex. Part-time barman Sam went to theatre school and has been in various bands, as well as gigging as small festivals. Bootcamp song: Iris - GooGoo Dolls.

Groups:

  • Rough Copy - Sterling, 28, and Joe, 27, from Croydon. The group had entered last year's contest but were forced to quit due to visa issues for one of the members. The same problem recurred this year forcing the trio to slim to a duo. Bootcamp song: Stop Crying Your Heart Out - Oasis.

  • Kingsland Road - Connor, 19, Matt, 25, Jay, 19, Josh, 20, and Thompson, 22, from east London. The quintet share a flat with three in one room and two in another. They hope to conquer the US so they can afford their own beds. Bootcamp song: For Once in My Life - Stevie Wonder.

  • Code 4 - Jordan, 17, Ryan , 21, and Jermaine, 25, from London and Birmingham. They formed two years ago and practise their dance routines five nights a week. Until recently they had been a four-piece. Bootcamp song: Wake Me Up - Avicii.

  • Unnamed new girl band - Jeanette, 21, Rielle, 16, and SeSe, 22, from London, Romford (originally South Africa) and Manchester SeSe had been part of group Dynamix, while Jeanette and Rielle had been part of the girls' category. Judges put them together because they saw a spark and after ten hours rehearsal they made it through. Bootcamp song: We Found Love - Rihanna.

  • Brick City - Yasmin, 23, James , 25, Anton , 27, Duane, 28, from London. They formed at the start of this year but say they are like "family" now. Bootcamp song: Like a Prayer - Bon Jovi.

  • Xyra - Beth, 23, Amy, 24, Laura, 23, Sasha, 22, and Nadina, 25, from London. The girls - who all work in promotions - have been together for seven months and have busked around London's Covent Garden and on the tube. Bootcamp song: Billie Jean - Michael Jackson.

The contestants in the girls category, who were revealed in last night's show are:

  • Abi Alton, 19, from Guisborough. The Morrison's sales assistant finds her job "boring" and lives at home with both her mum and dad. Bootcamp song: I Wanna Dance With Somebody - Whitney Houston.

  • Tamera Foster, 16, from Gravesend, Kent. Tamera, who starts college in September to study Musical Theatre, entered as part of duo Silver Rock, but judges decided to split them up. Bootcamp song: Stay - Rhianna.

  • Melanie McCabe, 19, from Dublin. Student Melanie is on her fourth appearance in the contest. She first appeared aged 14, making it to bootcamp and in 2011 got to judges' houses. Bootcamp song: The One that Got Away - Katy Perry.

  • Hannah Barrett, 17, from south London. Hannah, who is studying for A levels, started singing in her local church and she says she is more interested in music than fame. Bootcamp song: I'd Rather Go Blind - Etta James.

  • Jade Richards, 22, from Buckhaven, Fife. Unemployed Jade previously featured in the contest when she got through to the judges' houses stage in 2011. Bootcamp song: Clown - Emeli Sande.

  • Relley Clarke, 23, from Birmingham. A hotel housekeeper, she has been singing since she was tiny and began writing songs at 12 when she was bought a piano. Bootcamp song: Respect - Aretha Franklin.
