Conservation charities say ivory talks 'missed an opportunity' CITES
A major wildlife conference has come to an end in Bangkok today, with little prospect to curb the illegal trade in ivory and rhino horn.
There was an expectation that CITES, the international organisation that controls the trade in endangered species, would pass tough sentences on those complicit in the current wildlife crime crisis.
However, conservation charities said a big opportunity to save thousands of elephants and rhinos has been missed.
