Love Island

8 things we learnt on day 37

It was an intense 24 hours in the villa as we saw three Islanders head home, a little bit of romance, and A LOT of tears.

Day 37 came crashing in with many new discoveries. Firstly, Ovie became the definition of fashun (seriously, the man is an ICON). Meanwhile, Tommy and Molly-Mae casually dropped the L-bomb, and Amy's heart-shattering goodbye left us fresh out of tissues.

Here's everything we learnt...

1. Whispering is NOT Ovie's strong suit

He may be a pro basketball player, but hushed tones are not this guy's forte.

When faced with the difficult decision to save just one couple, Ovie didn't want to lose his bezzie George: "I literally already gave up on the woman I came in here with that I wanted to pursue. And then you want to rip my closest mate out of here too?"

After a long discussion with Anna (that everyone 100% listened in on), Ovie left the ball in her court. She announced to the Islanders, "The couple we have chosen to save is... Amy and Curtis."

Upset by the situation, Ovie told the Beach Hut, "It hurt me because I feel like I didn't stick up for my mate. It's a bitter pill to swallow." He is literally the purest human being. We have to protect him at ALL COSTS.

2. Maura gave Curtis a lesson in Irish slang

After the dumping, Maura was worried that Curtis would be angry with her for choosing to save Lucie and George over him and Amy. So she asked him the very important question: "You're not tick with me?"

Totally confused, Curtis replied: "I've never heard that saying in my life." We're with him on that one.

Maura went onto explain that tick = angry. You learn something new every day on Love Island.

3. The Safari hat is 2019's best nightwear accessory

Just an icon being an icon morning, noon and night.

4. The L-bomb has OFFICIALLY been dropped

IT HAPPENED! We couldn't be more obsessed with the villa's first official bf and gf.

After dropping the L-bomb in bed Tommy gushed, "I don't care who knows it, I'll shout it from the rooftops." Too. Cute.

Ever wondered what being in love with Tommy's like? Molly-Mae had some insights to share with the group: "You know when you just feel so loved by someone? And it's the most amazing feeling, and to be loved by Tommy... honestly, I wish everyone could experience it in this world because it feels incredible."

Anyone know where we can find our own Tommy please? Asking for a friend...

5. Amy took a big leap...

Prepare yourself. It's about to get emotional.

Amy had something very important to tell Curtis: "All I've ever wanted is for you to be happy... and you're not going to be able to be happy if I'm still here... I'm going to start the rest of my life today."

After lots of protest from Curtis, they gathered the other Islanders around the firepit as Amy shared her news, "I have made some of the best friends I have ever, ever had... I want to leave in a positive way, surrounded by the people I love."

6. Goodbyes are never easy...

...and the villa was completely shaken by Amy's departure.

Deep breaths... we're totally fine. No tears in sight. Okay fine, we're a blubbering mess rn.

7. If all else fails, just go ahead and grab a towel

We wish we'd thought of this before going through an entire pack of loo roll.

8. When faced with a difficult situation, grab a mate for some role play

Marvin had his sights set on Amber, so he asked Anton (yep, Anton) for some grafting advice. Our lovely Scot shared his words of wisdom: "She's got a hard outer shell, but she's really is soft on the inside. But it's just breaking down that hard shell, it's like a wall mate, it's like the great wall of China." Well, that definitely didn't help his nerves!

Marvin fancied a practice round, and went in for a spot of romantic role play, telling Anton, "You be Amber, I'll play me."

By that point we were in tears again, but this time with laughter.
