Love Island

7 things we learnt on day 36

Drumroll, please…

Day 36 was packed to the brim with romantic gestures that had us needing an endless supply of tissues. But while Tommy and Molly-Mae made things official, the surprise dumping left Jourdan and Danny waving a VERY emotional goodbye to the villa.

It was party time as Anna turned 29, which led to the discovery that our Islanders have many hidden talents... although cooking is deffo not one of Jordan's (You can tell that to the egg coated floor)! On this incredibly busy day, we also came to the groundbreaking realisation that goats will be... well, goats.

Have a sneaky peek at everything we learnt.

1. Maura may have lost her title as Girls' Girl of the year 2019

The rules of girl code came into question when Maura grafted Curtis before chatting to Amy. But after talking to the other Islanders, she decided to tell Amy the truth: "I'm an honest person and I can't hold back, so I did tell [Curtis] that I liked him."

Unsurprisingly, Amy wasn't all too pleased to hear that Maura was cracking on with her ex-half-boyfriend, but wished them all the best... sort of: "I hope you learn the basic jive. It's a great one."

Still stunned by Maura's revelation, Amy told the Beach Hut, "I didn't think that girls' girl of the year 2019 Maura Higgins would be the one who did the cracking on with the boy that broke my heart."

2. Tommy + Curtis + Ellie-Belly = The most romantic trio

It was all or nothing as Tommy decided to plan the perfect girlfriend proposal and with a helping hand from his right-hand man, they got the show on the road. Don't you worry, Ellie-Belly obvs had to have a starring role.

In a villa with no pens or paper, our trio had to get creative. So Curtis took the most efficient approach and emptied Molly-Mae's makeup bag to find the best eyeliner for the job.

Name something cuter than Ellie-Belly's note... We'll wait.

Our romantic fellas almost got busted as they heard Molly-Mae's footsteps walking up the stairs. But have no fear, Tommy jumped in a wardrobe and Curtis quickly snuck out onto the terrace. These two really do put our hide-and-seek game to shame.

None the wiser, Molly-Mae whistled away, tidying her makeup up from the floor.

The scene was set, so Tommy brought Molly-Mae back up to the terrace...

*Cue the most romantic monologue ever heard*

"So on a serious note, you know how much you mean to me. You know that you're the only girl for me. I only want to be with you, so therefore I was wondering if you want to be my girlfriend?"

Wow, our boxer really does have a way with words.

It was a big ol' YES from Molly-Mae as she looked down from the terrace at all the Islanders standing in a very interestingly shaped love heart... We can't knock them for trying though.

Here we have it, our first official couple of 2019!

3. Chef Jordan made a mess of the kitchen

Jordan had a few eggy mishaps whilst trying to prepare the perfect B-day brekkie for Anna.

Let's just say Jordan didn't have the flick of the wrist as he went to flip the omelette causing a few splashes on the floor and the countertop. But it all came together as his finished dish ended up on Anna's plate.

Miracles really do happen, guys.

Our romantic fella even wrote out "Happy birthday Anna" in Sriracha.

If that's not breakfast goals, we don't know what is.

4. It was couples galore

Our single ladies were sitting on a daybed, meanwhile, all the couples seemed to be having a whale of a time. Maura was completely over their PDA: "I hope you all fart and s**** your pants!" Well, that would probs ruin the mood.

To all the resident third-wheelers out there... We feel you.

5. Goats tend to goat around

Anton's dreams came true as he set off for a romantic goat milking date with Belle. Our Scot was absolutely buzzing: "This is up here with my top five dates."

But Belle wasn't so pleased: "Come on Love Island they said, It will be fun they said, here I am in a p**** field they said."

Well, one man's trash is another man's treasure, right?!

6. Molly-Mae and Amy can spit bars

Birthday prezzies are hard to come by in the villa, so Molly-Mae and Amy dug deep into their hearts and wrote this musical masterpiece...

"Our girl today is 29, and we must say she looks mighty fine.Anna is clever, wise and strong, she's always there when something goes wrong.Jordan said he loves her toes. Will he suck them? No one knows!"

Our Islanders' hidden talents never cease to amaze.

7. The surprise dumping had us all shielding our eyes.

We literally had to peek through our hands as tension swept through the villa.

Jourdan and Danny's time was up, leaving the Islanders absolutely heartbroken. Joanna told the Beach Hut, "I'm gutted, I really am. She's helped me out a lot here. A lot and I couldn't thank her enough."

But of course, there had to be a twist, and Tommy received the dreaded text: "Lucie and George and Amy and Curtis, you are still vulnerable. One more couple will be dumped tonight. The other couple will remain in the villa. Which couple stays and which couple is dumped will be decided by your fellow Islanders."

Ooh, it's about to go down.
