Matthew Lewis in new film 'Me Before You'

He ends up opening her eyes to this big new world she’s never been aware of before.

Matthew Lewis

The former Harry Potter star who played Neville Longbottom is in the new movie, 'Me Before You'. He appears alongside Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke and Hunger Games' Matthew Lewis.

Aged just 11, Matthew Lewis was cast as the clumsy Neville Longbottom and went on to star in all eight Harry Potter films. Last year he caused a stir by posing wit his top off and this year he's flexing his muscles again. Matthew plays a personal trainer in the new film and tells us why his emotional new film is one of the most talked about films this summer.

'Patrick is the young entrepreneur of the year and he's very focused on his personal training. He's obsessed with his triathlon that he's going to run in Norway, where he wants to take Louisa. He's more interested in his body fat percentage than anything else and that leads to him neglecting her. Will - played by the fantastic Sam Claflin - ends up opening her eyes to the big new world that she's never really been aware of.'

The film is much more than just a love story - it's a controversial subject. The film features a disabled man who is not enjoying his life.

There are a lot of different sides to the story

Matthew Lewis

'There's a lot in there that's being talked about in parliament and there are a lot of issues that are discussed and a lot of it, when I read the book and the script, it felt like the elephant in the room for a lot of people.'

'It's very easy to make decisions on behalf of other people and I thought the script, when I first read it, was a great way of opening a discussion.'

The whole point of this is that we're trying to tell a story that opens a dialogue and no one wants to shut down any kind of discussion. It is controversial.

Matthew Lewis

He says he was a little bit nervous about meeting the Game of Thrones star: 'I was quite nervous about meeting and working with her. She’s so talented but so disarming and wonderful to work with... She does the most beautiful job in this film.'

Joanna Lumley also appears in the film. 'People talk about scene-stealing but I thought she almost stole the film.'
