World Exclusive: We meet the man set to undergo the first head transplant
I believe it’s not a matter of trust. It’s a matter of research, it’s a matter of science.
Over the past few years we've seen surgeons carry out the first hand, womb and even face transplants but now one doctor is planning on making history by performing the world's first ever HEAD transplant.
The pioneering and somewhat controversial operation will see the head of Valery Spiridonov - who is terminally ill and wheelchair bound - attached to an entirely new body.
The surgeon planning this complex operation says it'll take around 150 medical staff 36 hours to complete.
Speaking exclusively to Good Morning Britain this morning, Valery admitted he is hopeful that the transplant will give him a prolonged and improved life.
