MPs call for cannabis to be legalised
Conservative MP Peter Lilley has called for the legalisation of cannabis in the UK, following eight US States passing laws allowing it there.
"I would like it to be available legally, so people don't get involved with gangs who might try and tempt them into doing other illegal drugs," he told Good Morning Britain.
"It gives a tremendous source of revenue to drug gangs. "
Lib Dem former deputy prime minister Nick Clegg and former health minister Norman Lamb have also joined Labour and Tory figures to back a new report which claims legalisation of the class B drug could net the Treasury more than £1 billion a year in tax revenue.
