Kim Cattrall's dark new comedy
Time is finite but you start to realise there are some choices you haven't made and can make - and why not!
Kim Cattrall talks about saying goodbye to sexy and hello to sensitive, as she embraces her 60s in August and plays a character closest to her real self for the first time. Most people will know Kim for her sexy antics in the Sex and The City role as PR Executive Samantha Jones.
She's back on our screens eight years later with a new show, a dark comedy called Sensitive Skin. It tells the story of a middle-aged woman fighting the effects of ageing personally and on her career.
Kim says: ‘I think it’s difficult to age in the spotlight and that’s one of the reasons I particularly wanted to tell the story of Sensitive Skin because it’s really reflecting and examining what’s going on in real time for me. To have that opportunity... is really thrilling because that wouldn’t have happened 15 years ago.'
Talking about how age was broached in the Sex and the City films, she says: 'In the second Sex and the City movie we did a scene where Samantha was turning 50 and she said she was fabulous but usually that’s been portrayed a woman locking herself in the bathroom, crying hysterically.'
But Kim's reality is much more positive: 'Women that I know from my generation, baby boomers, they’re just getting started.'
Kim also joined Richard on the sofa to talk Top Gear and why she's turning down roles here, there and everywhere!
