Casting news: Meet the Barton boys
Moira's extended family has just gotten bigger...say hello to the the Barton boys.
James Barton is a proud man but mounting debts and a crumbling business means taking drastic action before financial ruin knocks on his farmyard door. After making contact with his estranged sister-in-law Moira, James takes a massive leap of faith packing his life - and his boys - and moves to the Village in hope of a better future for them all. But will the pressures of starting a new life and encroaching on Cain and Adam's territory be too much for the new Barton family...especially when they're all under the SAME roof?
Anthony Quinlan (best known for playing Gilly Roach in HollyOaks) will be moving into Emmerdale as the eldest Barton son, Pete. Following in his father's agricultural footsteps, Pete's a nice guy who cares about his family, even if he's often at odds with middle sibling Ross. Speaking about his upcoming role, Quinlan said “I'm really excited to be part of Emmerdale as it’s an iconic serial drama."I'm privileged to be working with such a great cast and crew on a fantastic production.”
Alongside good guy Pete and bad boy Ross (already in the Village with James), the youngest Barton boy is sure to raise a few eyebrows in Emmerdale. Finn, played by Joe Gill, is nothing like his brothers. An intellectual with a university education under his belt, he's got big plans that don't involve rural living. Ahead of playing the brainy youngest Barton, Gill quipped, “I'm very grateful to be given this opportunity. The cast and crew have been class with me so far and the fact I’m able to learn from these experienced professionals everyday is just brilliant. "I’m hoping my character can contribute to how amazing the show is doing at the moment."
A single father on the verge of financial meltdown, a hardworking son making the best of a tough situation, a rebel son without a cause and a smart son looking for a better future. Will this new start spell BETTER or BAD for the new Bartons?
Keep watching this Autumn to find out...
