Cameron pledges to travel to Sri Lanka's former war zone

David Cameron has again justified his decision to attend the Commonwealth summit in Sri Lanka.

He was speaking in New Delhi, where the Indian Prime Minister has decided to boycott the meeting over concerns about human rights in the country.

Mr Cameron is meeting Manmohar Singh for talks this morning before heading to Sri Lanka tonight.

Speaking at a business event in the Indian capital, Mr Cameron said he "totally respects" the decision by some leaders not to go.

Canada's premier Stephen Harper is also refusing to travel to Colombo for the summit.

After a team from ITN's Channel 4 News was prevented from travelling to the north of the country - which is home to the Tamil minority - Mr Cameron promised to take journalists to the region when he travels there during his stay. He said:
